A 56-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for killing his 38-year-old wife in a fit of rage in Adamawa State.
The police said Aminu Abubakar, who lived in Lelewaji, Shagari phase 2, in the Yola South Local Government Area, attacked Nana Fadimatu with a hard object after learning that she was planning to remarry the next day.
The victim, who had a child with Abubakar after nine years of marriage, collapsed and died from the assault around 10 pm on Friday.
The police were alerted by Mahmud Rufai, the man who was supposed to marry Fadimatu, and arrested Abubakar at his workplace, Anasam Table Water at Jambutu 50 Housing.
The state police commissioner, CP Afolabi Babatola, praised the officers from the Shagari Divisional Police Headquarters for their swift action and said he had ordered the Anti-Homicide unit to take over the investigation.
He also urged the public to report any suspicious persons or activities in their areas to the police.
