JUST-IN: Judiciary Workers Declare Nationwide Strike Over Removal Of Fuel Subsidy

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has declared its decision to join the Nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over the removal of fuel subsidy.

President Bola Tinubu, during his inauguration, had announced the removal of fuel Subsidy.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) had ordered that the price of petrol per liter be raised from N197 to between N488 and N570 at its retail stations.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) then ordered a statewide strike, which will begin on Wednesday unless the government changes its decision.

M.J. Akwashiki, General Secretary of JUSUN, issued a statement on Monday ordering all union branches and chapters to begin nationwide mobilization and service withdrawal on Wednesdays.

The statement reads, “This followed a decision of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) at her meeting on 2nd June 2023 over the increase in the pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by the Federal Government through the NNPCL.

“All zonal vice presidents are to coordinate their zones by ensuring that branch and chapters chairmen mobilize their members for a total compliance.”
