The viral information that Sweden had denied sex a sport and was planning a competition was proven false.
The internet has been gripped by a report claiming that Sweden had begun the first-ever worldwide sex tournament with Greek contestants.
Several international news outlets fell for it and reported on it.
In a written statement supplied to DW news, Anna Setzman, spokesperson for the Swedish Sports Confederation, disputed the story, saying: “”All this information is false.”
She added, “Right now, false information is being spread in some international media about Sweden and Swedish sports. These are vigorously denied.”
