Olemgbe, a 40 years old lawmaker representing Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area, was elected unopposed on Friday during the inauguration of the 10th State House of Assembly in Owerri, the state capital.

The Ihitte/Uboma LGA’s most recent chairman of the Transition Committee is Olemgbe.

Vitalis Azodo, the member-elect for Ideato South, proposed the nomination of Olemgbe as the new Speaker. Ugochukwu Obodo, the member-elect for Owerri Municipal Council, seconded Azodo’s motion.

No other nominations were made, thus Chinelo Emeghara, Clerk of the House, called for Olemgbe to be sworn in.
