President Tinubu Implements New Health Salary Structure

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the revision of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for Health Professionals serving in the Federal Public Service.

However, this information was made known in Abuja and reported by the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.

According to a circular dated 26th July 2023, issued by Ekpo Nta, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, the new salary structure will come into effect from the 1st of June, 2023.

Meanwhile, the circular, emanating from the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, stated that the President’s approval came after a thorough review of the Health Sector Salary Structures conducted by the Commission.

Furthermore, it was announced that President Tinubu has also given his consent to a 25 per cent increment in the peculiar allowance for Medical and Dental Doctors serving in hospitals, medical centers, and clinics within the Federal Public Service.

In addition to this, in a separate circular, Nta disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the payment of a quarterly Accoutrement Allowance amounting to twenty-five thousand Naira (N25,000:00) for Medical and Dental Doctors in hospitals, medical centers, and clinics within the Federal Public Service.

Nevertheless, this allowance will also be effective from the 1st of June 2023 and will be drawn from the overhead budget.

As a result of the revised Consolidated Health Salary Structure, Health Professionals on Grade Level would now receive an annual salary of N45,000, while those on Grade Level 15 would earn N6,315,091.

The circular, signed by the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, declared, “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has given his approval for the revision of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for Health Professionals in the Federal Public Service, effective from 1st June 2023.”
