Elon Musk To Fight Mark Zuckerberg In ‘Ancient Roman Setting’

Italy to host historic event with Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg in ancient Roman site

The Italian government has announced that it will host a historic event involving Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the two rival tech moguls, in an ancient Roman site somewhere in the country.

The event, which is expected to raise millions of euros for charity, will not take place in the Colosseum, as previously suggested by Mr Musk, but in another location that has not been revealed yet.

The culture ministry said it was planning a large event of a historical nature with the two billionaires, who have been feuding online for months.

Mr Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, met with Italy’s prime minister Giorgia Meloni and culture minister Gennaro Sangiuliano on Friday and tweeted that they had “agreed on an epic location”.

He also tweeted “Gladiator” with two sword emojis and a Latin phrase that means “It is delightful to play the fool occasionally.”

Mr Sangiuliano said he had a “long and friendly conversation” with Mr Musk about their shared passion for ancient Rome and discussed how to organise a big charity event that would respect Italy’s history and culture.

He said the event would not be held in Rome, but in another historical setting that would be announced soon.

He added that the event would generate “many millions of euros” that would be donated to children’s hospitals and the fight against paediatric diseases in Italy.

“It will be an occasion to promote, on a world scale, our history and our archaeological, artistic and cultural heritage,” he said.

Mr Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and Instagram, has not commented on the announcement yet.

He had previously challenged Mr Musk to a cage fight after the latter posted on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that he was “up for a cage fight”.

Mr Zuckerberg responded by saying “send me location” and later proposed August 26 as the date for the showdown.

However, Mr Musk did not confirm and instead suggested that the fight could take place at the Colosseum in October.

The idea was rejected by Italian officials, who said they had not given permission for a fight to be staged in the ancient arena.

They also proposed that instead of a physical brawl, the two men should engage in a “certamen”, an ancient contest in which contestants have to answer questions about classical history and mythology in Latin.
