Federal University, Oye-Ekiti – In a bid to break the Guinness World Record for the longest period of lecturing, a computer science lecturer at the institution is organizing an all-night event tagged the ACA-A-THON. The current mark which stands at 150 hours is what the university is strongly looking at outdoing.

The ambitious project, organized by a 34-year-old lecturer, whose name was given as Dr Joshua Hassan, will take place for several days, starting from the 10th to the 16th of October 2023 and is open to all students of the institution. The event will be held virtually, making use of various e-learning platforms.

Dr Hassan, who is greatly optimistic about this task, is highly motivated to gather as many passionate and driven students as possible to be a part of his team, thereby shattering the record as well as creating an avenue for students to acquire more knowledge about their courses in computer science. He said the event offers students the chance to learn from industry professionals, solve real-world problems, and connect with peers.

The Head of the Department of Computer Science, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Professor Adeolu Aderounmu, while reacting to this impressive feat, described it as a landmark achievement and a significant boost in the promotion of academics in the institution.
