Ahmed Musa Dragged For Wishing Christians ‘Merry Christmas’

Nigerian football star Ahmed Musa has received criticism from some of his fellow Muslims for posting a picture of his Christian wife, Juliet Ejue, and wishing her and other Christians a merry Christmas.

Musa, who is the captain of the Super Eagles and plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, married Juliet in 2017 as his second wife, after divorcing his first wife, Jamila. The couple have two children together and seem to be happy despite their religious differences.

Christmas is a major festival for Christians, who believe that it marks the birth of Jesus Christ, whom they regard as the son of God. On December 25th, millions of Christians around the world celebrated the occasion by exchanging gifts, attending church services, and sending greetings to their loved ones.

Musa joined in the festivities by sharing a photo of his wife, who was wearing a red and white pyjama set with Christmas motifs, on his Instagram account. He captioned the photo, “Compliments of the season🎄🎄🎄 This festive season, I pray that you experience true joy and peace and may things of celebration never cease from your household. Merry Christmas to you all 👏🎉.”

However, not everyone was pleased with Musa’s gesture of goodwill and respect for his wife’s faith. Some of his Muslim followers expressed their displeasure and disapproval in the comment section, accusing him of violating the teachings of Islam and urging him to convert his wife to Islam.

One of the comments read, “Brother Ahmed, you are a Muslim and you should not celebrate or even congratulate Christians for their festival. This is not permissible in Islam. Please repent and make your wife a Muslim.”

Another comment said, “This is a shame. You are a Muslim and you are celebrating Christmas. You are not a true Muslim. You should fear Allah and follow the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”

Musa has not responded to the negative comments, nor has he deleted his post. He has also received support and praise from some of his fans, who commended him for being tolerant and respectful of his wife’s religion.

One of the positive comments said, “You are a good example of a loving husband and a peaceful Nigerian. You have shown that Muslims and Christians can live together in harmony and respect each other’s beliefs. May God bless you and your family.”

Another comment said, “Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful wife. You are a great footballer and a great human being. You have made us proud as Nigerians. Ignore the haters and keep spreading love and peace.”
