Akwa Ibom State University Students Arrested For Internet Fraud

 

About 19 undergraduate Students of Akwa Ibom State University, in Mkpat-Enin, were arrested for suspected internet fraud, Friday.

Agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Uyo Command detained the undergraduates.

Their private hostels, Obong Abasi Lodge and Mfon Obong Lodge, both of which are located at Ikot Akpadem in the Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, were where they were detained.

Their arrest came after several months of investigation after their alleged involvement in impersonation, cryptocurrency fraud, and romance frauds.

Mobile phones and several computers were found from them.

The suspects will be charged in court as soon as investigations are finished, according to Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesman for the EFCC.
