Amma Buwa: Bukar Abacha’s Daughter Strangled To Death
The daughter of a member of the Borno State House of Assembly, Bukar Abacha, was reportedly strangled to death by unknown assailants in her home in the Gidan Dembe area of Maiduguri, the state capital, on Tuesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Mrs Amma Buwa, was the wife of a businessman and the mother of a two-year-old child. She was found dead in her house with her hands and legs tied behind her back while her child was crying beside her.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 6:30 pm when her husband had left the compound to a nearby mosque for prayers. He returned to find his wife’s lifeless body and rushed her to the Gwange Police Division.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and said the corpse had been taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for autopsy and investigation.
He said the motive behind the killing was yet to be established and appealed to the public to provide any useful information that could assist the police in apprehending the perpetrators.
He also assured that the police would do everything possible to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the security of lives and property in the state.
Meanwhile, a family source who shared the news of the incident on his Facebook page said the burial of the deceased would take place today (Wednesday) morning at 777 Housing Estate in Maiduguri.
He wrote: “Inna lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un. Mrs. Amma Buwa was killed by some hoodlums earlier today after Ishai prayer when some unknown men invaded her house after her husband left for the masjid to pray. Amma is the daughter of member Representing Ngala at the state House of Assembly. The janaiza (burial) will occur at 777 Housing Estate by 10 am in Maiduguri. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
He also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for God’s comfort and protection.
The incident has caused shock and sadness among residents of the area who described the deceased as a peaceful and friendly person.
They also called on the authorities to beef up security and ensure that such heinous crimes do not happen again.
