ASUU Directs Members To Join NLC 2-Days Nationwide Protest

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed it is members nationwide to suspend academic activities and join the NLC protest scheduled to be held on 27 and 28 February 2024.

This was made known through a memo signed by ASUU chairman, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Branch on Monday 26th February 2024.

The Memo reads, “Sequel to a joint meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of NLC and TUC, the NEC directed all affiliate Unions to join the National Protest scheduled for Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th February, 2024. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), as an affiliate of NLC has also directed all its Branches to participate in the protest in defence of the Nigerian workers and the labour leadership”.

“In view of the above, there will be absence of all academic activities (No teaching, No examination), and no attendance of any statutory meetings (Senate, Council, College/Faculty/Departmental Boards etc), conferences and workshops by members of the Union in order to fully participate in the protest.”

“Members of Congress are advised to remain resolute and await further information and updates from the branch Chairperson.”
