Retired Captain Reveals Suicide Bombers Paid as Little as N20

A shocking revelation has emerged from a security analyst, Captain Sadiq Shehu (rtd), who exposed that some suicide bombers involved in the recent Gwoza attacks were paid a paltry sum of N20. This stunning admission highlights the alarming trend of cheap and effective tactics employed by Boko Haram.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Captain Shehu emphasized that suicide bombing has become a preferred method for the terrorist group due to its low cost and ability to evade detection. He cited instances where intercepted bombers revealed being paid minimal amounts, as low as N20, to carry out their deadly missions.

Meanwhile, Borno State Commissioner Sugun Mai Mele attributed the attacks to laxity in security screening exercises, allowing bombers to disguise themselves as farmers and evade detection. He stressed the need for improved security measures, including registration and tagging of farmers, to prevent future occurrences.

This disturbing trend raises concerns about the vulnerability of citizens and the urgent need for enhanced security strategies to combat Boko Haram’s sinister tactics.
