BREAKING: Army Nabs Female Gunrunner And Extremist Leader’s Wife, Trying To Pick ₦1.5M Ransom

In a series of successful operations, the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army has arrested several criminals involved in arms trafficking, kidnapping, and insurgency in Taraba State.

The most notable among them is Joshua Dutse Idah, a notorious gunrunner who was caught with a PK Machine Gun, 399 rounds of ammunition, and 3 AK 47 magazines in his car. He confessed that he was on his way to Katsina State to buy more AK 47 rifles for his clients.

Another high-profile arrest was that of Janet Igohia, the wife of Voryor Gata, the leader of a violent extremist group in southern Taraba. She was nabbed after picking up N1.5 million as a ransom for an abducted victim. She revealed that she had been married to several notorious criminals in the past, including the late Gana Terwase, who was killed by the Joint Special Force in 2021.

The troops also apprehended two other gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa and Usman Isah, who were allegedly involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling. They were found with N664,000 and 2 Techno mobile phones.

In addition, a suspected violent extremist, Malam Muhammadu Shuaibu, who had been on the run, was arrested by the troops of the 20 Model Battalion. He was the same suspect who had escaped earlier after 3 Dane Guns were recovered from his residence.

The Brigade said that the arrest of these criminals should serve as a warning to all those involved in the illicit arms trade and other criminal acts. The suspects and the exhibits recovered will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

The Brigade also appealed to the public to continue to support the military and other security agencies by giving credible and timely information on suspicious movements or activities of criminals within the state.
