BREAKING NEWS: Kwara State Government Supports Poultry And Fish Farmers With 55.5% Discount On Maize

In a significant move to bolster the agricultural sectors in Kwara State, the government, led by Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRasak, has initiated the distribution of maize at a remarkable 55.5% discount to stakeholders in the poultry and fishery (feed mill) industries.

The state government, under Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRasak’s leadership, is offering a 50kg bag of maize at the highly subsidized price of N8,000, a substantial reduction from the typical market value of N18,000 for the same quantity.

This extraordinary price reduction aims to alleviate the financial burden on farmers within these vital sectors.

The distribution of maize to poultry farmers is being coordinated by the Kwara State Palliative Committee, which is under the leadership of the former Commissioner of Police, Ebunoluwa Rotimi Adelesi.

The primary objective of this initiative is to address the challenges faced by farmers in producing feed for their livestock.

Prior to the distribution, the palliative committee engaged in a comprehensive stakeholders’ meeting with key organizations such as the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Poultry Farmers Association (PAN), and other relevant groups.

This consultation aimed to establish the criteria for the allocation of maize, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.

Kwara State, under Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRasak’s administration, like several other states, procured the maize from the national strategic grain reserve through the Central Bank of Nigeria. This strategic move signifies the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural industry and alleviating the burden on farmers in the state.

Dr. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi and Binta Abubakar Mora have been the signatories representing the Committee in this significant effort, highlighting the government’s dedication to the welfare of poultry and fish farmers in Kwara State.

This initiative is set to have a far-reaching impact on the agricultural landscape, contributing to increased food production and improved livelihoods for farmers in the state, all under the leadership of Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRasak.
