BREAKING: President Tinubu Meets with Oil Marketers

President Bola Tinubu has met with prominent oil marketers over increases of Petrol price at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun who also serves as the organization’s Chairman, was in charge of the delegation of oil merchants.

Following the elimination of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, more popularly known as gasoline, there have been several protests and rising controversy around the President’s meeting with the oil marketers.

Because of this, the price of petrol has increased to above N500 per litre, and there are no signs that it would soon go down in price.

Recall that during President Tinubu’s inaugural speech at the Eagle Square in Abuja on May 29, he declared the discontinuation of subsidy payments on petrol.

The President made it clear that funding for fuel subsidies had not been included in the 2023 budget beyond June during the previous administration, which was headed by Muhammadu Buhari.

Organised Labour had first declared intentions for a statewide strike to start on Wednesday in response to these developments. However, on Monday, June 5, 2023, a court ruling restrained their actions.

Late on Monday, after another discussion with the Federal Government, Organized Labor decided to call off its strike.
