The appointment of Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, as the Chancellor of Bayero University in Kano (BUK) has been authorized by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The federal government’s letter containing the information was signed by Malam Adamu Adamu, the minister of education.
The letter further said that the chancellor shall preside at all Convocation sessions organized for the purpose of awarding degrees and shall, in all matters relating to the university, have priority over all other members of the university.
The letter states that either at a particularly planned investiture ceremony or at the institution’s subsequent convocation, where the investiture of the chancellor will take place prior to the event, the chancellor will be introduced to the university community and the general public.
