Cambridge Dictionary in trouble for changing definitions of gender

Cambridge Dictionary
has come under heavy backlash on social media for altering the traditional definitions of the “male” and “female” genders.

Pristinegist discovered that the description of the two genders was distorted to accommodate the growing community of people who chose not to identify with their biological sex.

As observed, the meaning of woman, which traditionally was the known biological female description, is now, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, “an adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”

It further describes a man as “an adult who lives and identifies as a male though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”

Nonetheless, these changes provoked wide critiques on social media as many claimed that redefining society’s definition of gender and sex is dangerous and inaccurate.

A British social commentator, Adam Brooks, said, “Oh wow, the @CambridgeWords dictionary definition of a woman is shocking, how did we get here? Surely women aren’t happy with this?”

Also expressing her displeasure, an English journalist, Sophie Corcoran, said, “Try and tell me they’re not trying to erase women. Cambridge dictionary has changed the definition of a woman. This cannot be accepted. We will not be erased. Woman = adult human female. Not someone who ‘identifies as female.”
