Christmas Spirit Fumbles: Plateau United’s Holiday Cheer Dashed with NPFL Fines and Suspensions!”

Plateau United finds itself in hot water after being charged for breaching the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Framework & Rules during their Matchday 15 fixture at Kwara United on Thursday, December 21.

The controversy unfolded when players and officials of Plateau United reportedly harassed the match officials after the game in Jos, marking an act of misconduct that could tarnish the reputation of the sport.

Plateau United failed to ensure the proper conduct of their players and officials, leading to the post-match harassment and intimidation of the referee. Consequently, the NPFL has imposed a hefty fine of N1 million on the club for their actions.

Moreover, individual sanctions have been handed down, with players Jimmy Ambrose and Charles Henlong facing a three-match suspension each. The team manager, Iliya Abel, also received a three-match suspension for his alleged inciting and unsporting conduct.

Plateau United has been issued a stern warning about the possibility of facing even more severe sanctions if there is a recurrence of such behavior. The club has a 48-hour window from the date of notice to lodge an appeal against these sanctions.

The NPFL emphasizes the importance of maintaining the integrity of the league and ensuring fair play in all matches.
