Convert Your Dollars To Naira Before Dangote Refinery Starts – Omokri To Nigeria

In a fervent appeal to the Nigerian populace, social activist Reno Omokri has called for a strategic financial pivot—urging citizens to exchange their US dollars for the local currency, the Naira. Omokri’s rallying cry comes with the anticipation of the Dangote refinery’s commencement, which he believes will significantly bolster the Naira’s value against the dollar.

The activist’s conviction is rooted in the potential cessation of fuel importation, a move that could be realized with the Dangote refinery’s operational debut in Nigeria. Omokri’s statements, made on platform X, carry a tone of caution against betting on the Naira’s downfall, referencing a dire prophecy that saw the Naira plummeting to ₦2000 against a single US dollar.

Omokri’s message is clear: “The moment Nigeria halts fuel imports, expect the Naira to soar. Those who have gambled against our currency, heed my words—convert your dollars now, or brace for regret come May 2024. The Dangote Refinery is set to saturate the market with affordable petroleum products, marking a new era for our economy. #GrowNairaBuyNaija”

This sentiment is echoed by Abubakar Maigandi, head of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, who disclosed to Reuters that local oil marketers have set diesel prices at N1,225 per litre ($0.96), following a bulk purchase agreement. With control over approximately 150,000 retail stations nationwide, the association’s influence is poised to play a pivotal role in this economic shift.
