Cooking Gas Increases From N3,708.59 To N4,600.57 In One Year – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics reported in Abuja on Friday that the average cost of 5 kg of cooking gas climbed from N3,708.58 in February 2022 to N4,600.57 in February 2023.

According to the report, the price in February increased by 24.05 percent when compared to the price in February 2022. It also increased by 0.26 percent when compared to the previous month, standing at N4,588.75 in January 2023, when it was N4,600.57.

According to a state-by-state research, Kwara had the highest average price for a 5 kg cooking gas refill at N4, 962.86, followed by Adamawa at N4, 914.00 and Niger at N4, 907.50.

On the other side, it stated that Enugu had the lowest price, which was N4,179.41, followed by Rivers and Abia, which had prices of N4,204.44 and N4,220.00, respectively.

After the North-West at N4,629.19, the North-Central had the highest average retail price for 5kg of cooking gas, at N4,845.44. The lowest average price for 5kg of cooking gas was N4,428.97 in the South-East, it continued.

According to the NBS, the average monthly retail cost to refill a 12.5kg cooking gas container decreased by 0.23 percent from N10,277.17 in January 2023 to N10,253.39 in February 2023. It said, “On an annual basis, this increased by 37.67% from N7,447.79 in February 2022.
