Cop’s head chopped off by ruthless killers in Nigeria
A police officer was brutally murdered by a gang of unknown gunmen who stormed his home and cut off his head in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
The horrific attack on Inspector Osang took place on Wednesday night in a suburb of Uyo City, where he lived with his family.
Witnesses said the assailants broke into his compound and opened fire indiscriminately to frighten the neighbours before beheading him.
This was the third gruesome killing in the area this month, following the decapitation of a woman near a bank and the dismemberment of another woman whose body parts were dumped in a bag.
The state police spokesperson, Odiko Mac-Don, confirmed the incident and described it as a tragedy.
He said the state police chief, Olatoye Durosinmi, had launched a manhunt for the killers and vowed to bring them to justice.
He said the police were not intimidated by the violence but determined to rid the streets of criminals.
He said: “We have received that information and it is an unfortunate situation. Already, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation and we are committed to ridding the streets of criminal elements.
“We are not deterred by the incident but we are committed to ensuring that, criminally minded persons will account for their actions.”
