Day-To-Election: YPP Deputy Governorship Candidate, 3 Others Kidnapped In Cross River

Prince Agbor Onyi, the deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Cross River State, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election and NASS election has been kidnapped.

Prince Agbor was reportedly taken hostage on Thursday night in the Akparavuni hamlet of the State’s Biase Local Government Area.

DAILY TRUST was informed by family sources that the kidnappers have requested a large ransom.

The deputy governorship candidate was kidnapped along with three other people, according to PRISTINEGIST.

The YPP, however, claimed that the kidnapping had crushed Onyi’s family members in a statement that was signed by the party’s state secretary, Comrade Fredrick Omari.

“We were horrified to learn that Prince Agbor Onyi, our Vice Governorship candidate, had been abducted.

The timing of this illegal conduct is extremely detrimental to the party and causes us all great anxiety. We thus urge the Nigerian Police and all other security authorities to act swiftly and uncharacteristically.

The message went on to say, “We demand that our Deputy Governorship candidate be released from the kidnappers’ den immediately so that he may travel to his community to do his civic duty tomorrow.
