Edo Governor Obaseki Approves 13th-month Salary For Workers

The payment of the 13th month’s salary to Edo civil and public officials was approved on Monday by the governor of the state of Edo, Godwin Obaseki.

He also asked the employees’ cooperation to support the durability of continuing changes implemented by his administration to provide a better standard of living for the populace and the State’s economic development.

Obaseki revealed this while conversing with civil and government employees from levels 8 to 17 in Benin City, the capital of the Edo state.

The development of the Benin Port and other projects intended at setting the State on the path of sustainable economic growth and development were promised by the governor, who thanked Edo workers for their support of his administration over the previous six years.

“You have requested that a 13th month’s salary be paid to you in December,” he said. We’ll do it, but how will you repay the state government between now and December?

*I’m here to express my gratitude for your support. When I reflect, I am aware that I have people. Over the past six and a half years, you have helped me.

“I sincerely appreciate your participation in the recent election, which helped Edo State continue its rapid progress. Our attention should be directed toward finding ways to continue the state’s rapid development.

“All I’ve accomplished in the past six and a half years is to place you where you really belong because you are the heart and the engine of Edo state.”

The governor added, “Our focus is on how to ensure the sustainability of the reforms we have embarked on and you need to play an active part in this journey. We want Edo to be a model for the nation and give the nation hope.

Governor Obaseki offered some reassurance on the progress of the Benin River Port project, saying that the federal and state governments, the Nigeria Port Authority, and the Ministry of Transportation are all reviewing the applications and will soon choose a partner and begin the port’s development.

“It is my goal that construction on the port on the Benin River will have begun within the next nine to twelve months, and that will be a game changer. In advance of the port, we already have partners who are constructing an LNG facility close to the River Port.

The governor was commended for his advancements and dedication to the welfare of employees by Edionwe Joel, the permanent secretary of the Edo State Ministry of Environment and Sustainability in Edo, assuring the support of the civil and public servants in the state.
