Enugu State Police Take Action Against Viral Prank Video Makers

Nsukka Area Command, Enugu State – August 14, 2023: Law enforcement officials from the Nsukka Area Command, Enugu State Command, apprehended three individuals on Monday in connection with a widely-circulated prank video that ignited a wave of public outcry.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi, known by the alias MC Sharp (male, 32), Chinenye Agbo, also known as Star Ella Ada (female, 26), and Anastasia Onu (female, 26).

However, their detention stems from their participation in the creation of a controversial prank video.

The video in question portrays Chinenye Agbo enduring physical abuse, as her clothing is torn, her hair forcibly shaved, and she is subjected to alleged mistreatment for purportedly assaulting Anastasia Onu.

Meanwhile, Anastasia is reportedly the girlfriend of Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi, one of the detained individuals.

According to a statement issued by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the Enugu State Command, initial investigations have brought to light the suspects’ claim that the video was intended as a prank to attract a larger following on their social media profiles.

Nevertheless, this explanation has not shielded them from public criticism, as the distressing scenes depicted in the video have fueled widespread condemnation and triggered concerns about the well-being of Chinenye Agbo.

Condemning the incident, Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Ammani, FDC, has taken a firm stance and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Enugu to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.

The commissioner’s directive is aimed at ensuring that all individuals involved in the production of the video are held accountable, serving as a stern warning to discourage any potential future instances of such actions masquerading as pranks.
