Lagos Police Uncover $700,000 Ransom Plot
In a shocking turn of events, a 20-year-old student, Collins Ikwebe, has been caught in a web of deceit after staging his own kidnapping and demanding a staggering $700,000 ransom from his father.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikwebe and five accomplices, including four females, concocted the scheme, which was foiled when detectives traced the ransom demands to a Lekki apartment where the group was hiding.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the fake kidnapping plot unfolded over two weeks, with multiple ransom demands ranging from $500,000 to N30,000.
The suspects are currently under investigation, and none have been cleared of involvement.
