Finidi George Laments Super Eagles’ Indiscipline and Lack of Commitment

Lagos, Nigeria – Super Eagles coach Finidi George has privately expressed concerns over the discipline and commitment levels within the national team, singling out Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for criticism.

According to a source who spoke to Score Nigeria, Finidi believes that Osimhen selectively chooses which matches to play for Nigeria, implying a lack of dedication to national duties.

“Finidi said the Napoli striker could still have managed to play these matches,” the source revealed. “The coach will go on to say that it appears that Osimhen chooses the games he plays for Nigeria and he cannot beg him to play for his country.”

The former Enyimba coach also voiced his disappointment over the general breakdown of discipline within the team. Finidi noted that players often arrived at training camps for crucial World Cup qualifiers with a lackadaisical attitude, undermining the team’s preparations and morale.

Finidi further pointed out that many players have the support of powerful members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board, making it challenging to enforce disciplinary measures. He lamented that warnings about a player’s connections to influential “big men” often hampered his efforts to maintain order and professionalism within the squad.

These revelations highlight growing concerns about the internal dynamics of the Super Eagles, raising questions about the effectiveness of the current coaching and management structures in instilling discipline and commitment among the players.
