Fuel Subsidy Removal: Long Queues Form In Ilorin Filling Stations

Gasoline lines have returned to filling stations in the Ilorin metropolis after President Bola Tinubu announced on Monday that fuel subsidies will be eliminated.

The majority of gas outlets were closed on Monday night. In front of long lines of clients, the ones that were accessible to the public sold for more than the authorized pump price.

Before the word of the elimination of fuel subsidies spread, the filling stations sold at a variety of prices in the morning, but some closed down and others raised their prices by the evening.

Some buyers claimed that they anticipated a petrol shortage, which caused them to buy in a hurry.

When work resumed on Tuesday, Medinah Jimoh claimed she would not have the time to look for petrol and was prepared to buy in the long line.

David Owoeye, a different patron, stated: “That is the reason why I decided to refill my tank today so that I will not suffer searching for fuel around when the filling stations start their artificial scarcity.”
