Gov. AbdulRahman Declares War Against Drug Peddling: KWSG In Partnership With NDLEA Launches ‘Operation Gbalumo’

 

Kwara State government led by Governor AbduRahman AbdulRasaq in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has launched a comprehensive operation named “Operation Gbalumo” to combat drug peddling and substance abuse today.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration, commenced on Monday and is set to run for three weeks.

The operation will target various key areas, including raiding known drug hideouts, conducting patrols in high-risk zones, monitoring illegal drug trafficking, and fostering awareness about the perils of drug abuse through community engagement programs.

However, the aim is to safeguard the state from the influx of illicit drugs, particularly during the festive season.

Addressing the press at the NDLEA Kwara Command headquarters, Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Mikail, the Special Assistant to the Kwara Governor on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, emphasized that the collaboration reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.

Acknowledging the increased activity of drug peddlers and users during the festive season, Aileru underscored the determination not to allow the state to become a haven for drug traffickers.

He further urged the public to support the government and security agencies in ensuring the success of the operation.

Residents and visitors were urged to cooperate with law enforcement officials, reporting any suspicious activities or information related to drug peddling promptly to the nearest NDLEA office or security agency.

NDLEA Commander Kwara Command, Mohammed Bashir, expressed gratitude for the state government’s proactive approach and committed the command to ensuring a peaceful and drug-free festive season.

Muyideen Aliyu, the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to the Kwara Governor, emphasized the governor’s dedication to providing a conducive environment for security agencies to execute their duties and maintain peace and security in the state.
