Governor Ifeanyi fails to win senatorial election in Enugu

Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has lost his senatorial bid to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Okechukwu Ezea.

The governor who is rounding off his second term as governor is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District election held on Saturday 25 February.

Mr. Ezea polled a total of 104,492 votes to overthrow Mr. Ifeanyi of the PDP, who has 46,948 votes.

However, The All Progressives Congress candidate for the district, Ejike Eze, scored 6,816 votes.

The result was announced by Professor Chukwuemeka Ubaka, at the collation center of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nsukka Local Government Area headquarters on Monday at about 5: 20 a.m.

The professor said Mr. Ezea is the winner in the exercise because he “justified all the requirements of the law” as he scored the highest number of votes in the election.
