Graphic Photos From Unknown Gunmen Attack On US Convoy

An attack on a US convoy in Anambra state, Nigeria, resulted in several fatalities

Reports says gunmen targeted the convoy along Atani-road, Ogbaru, leading to the deaths of two US consulate staff and policemen.

Witnesses say the attackers shot and set the vehicle ablaze, with the remaining three occupants kidnapped by pro-Biafra separatists.

Footage of the incident has been circulating online, revealing that the vehicle was moving at the time of the attack.

The attack caused the vehicle to lose control and swerve off the road. Military personnel at the scene could be heard instructing others to search nearby buildings.

The US embassy in Nigeria has confirmed the attack, expressing their condolences to the families of the victims.

The embassy has also stated that they are working with Nigerian authorities to ensure the safe return of those kidnapped.

The attack on the US convoy has prompted concerns about the safety of foreign nationals in Nigeria.

The pro-Biafra separatist movement, which seeks to establish an independent state for the Igbo people, has been accused of targeting foreign nationals – particularly those of Western origin – in the past.

The Nigerian government has condemned the attack, with President Muhammadu Buhari urging security forces to “leave no stone unturned” in hunting down those responsible.

Speaking at a press conference, the President stated that the attack was “an affront to the international community”, adding that Nigeria remained committed to ensuring the safety of foreign nationals within its borders.

The US embassy has issued a travel advisory urging American citizens to exercise caution and remain vigilant while in Nigeria.

The advisory stated “terrorist groups, armed criminal groups, and other violent-actors continue to operate” that US citizens could be targeted.

The embassy has also urged American citizens to avoid travel to Anambra state until further notice.
