Gruesome Trade Unveiled: Man Arrested with Human Skulls on Route to Ritualist

Isua Akoko, Nigeria – In a chilling revelation that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 37-year-old man, Yusuf Adenoyin, was apprehended with a macabre cargo of eight human skulls at a checkpoint in Isua Akoko, Akoko South-East LGA.

Adenoyin, who was travelling in a Nissan car from Akure to Osogbo, was intercepted by the Police Safer Highway Patrol. The vehicle, shared with four other passengers, became the centre of a harrowing discovery as security personnel unearthed the skulls, concealed within a sack of garri and accompanied by charms.

The arrest, confirmed by Police Commissioner Abayomi Oladipo, has unveiled a sinister network of skull trafficking. Adenoyin’s confession shed light on a grim trade, where each human skull fetched a price ranging from thirty thousand to thirty-five thousand Naira.

The suspect claimed to be delivering the skulls to a herbalist named Opeifa in Osogbo’s Oke-Onitea area. He also named other alleged clients in the region, painting a broader picture of the demand for such illicit items.

As Adenoyin awaits further investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure, the incident raises alarming questions about the underbelly of ritualistic practices and the urgent need for stringent measures to combat such heinous crimes.
