History Will Judge Me, I Served Nigeria Best Way I Could – Babangida

Former Nigerian military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, has defended his service to Nigeria, saying he did his best and history will judge him. He also advised young Nigerians to study the country and prepare for leadership roles.

Speaking to journalists at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State, Babangida said his greatest achievement was to know more about the country and make friends across the board. He acknowledged that he used both coercion and dialogue as leadership styles.

Babangida, who ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993, said he served the country to the best of his ability, even if some people were not satisfied with his actions. He said he related well with the people and travelled widely across the country.

He urged young Nigerians to seize the opportunity to learn about the country, its people and its challenges, as they are the leaders of tomorrow. He said leadership requires providing solutions to people’s problems and fears.
