Housemaid’s son murders former head teacher for Samsung phone
A teenager has confessed to killing a former head teacher and grandmother of 62 years, Mrs Sidikat Adamolekun, in Arigidi Akoko, Ondo State. Mubarak Akadiru, who is the son of a housemaid, said he attacked the victim with a wooden stool when she caught him stealing her Samsung phone.
The incident happened on November 14, 2023, around 11:30 am, at the deceased’s residence in Simiileolowa Quarters. The accused, who was 18 years old at the time, said he went to the house to work as usual and later returned to steal the phone worth N66,000.
The police prosecutor, Simon Wada, told an Akure Magistrate Court that the accused violated Section 319 of the Criminal Code, which deals with murder. He said the accused struck the victim on the head with the stool, causing her death.
The magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The case was adjourned to March 15, 2024, for further hearing.
