How Kwara Doctor ‘Sedated, Rape’ Patients

The Chief Medical Director of Ayodele Hospital in Ilorin, Kwara State, Ayodele Joseph, has been accused of rape by a patient who had come for medical treatment.

Dr. Joseph has been arraigned on two counts of act of gross indecency, and rape which are contrary to sections 285 and 283 of the penal code.

A police report revealed that the defendant sedated the patient who is a professional nurse. Eventually, he had sexual intercourse with her outside of her consent.

According to the report, the nurse went to the hospital for medical treatment when Dr. Joseph, who claimed to have twenty-seven years of experience in the medical field, allegedly took advantage of her under sedation.

The charge sheet revealed that there was a video recording of the sexual assault and rape, and medical texts confirmed that the nurse was indeed assaulted and raped.

Prosecutor Gbenga Ayeni informed the court of the seriousness of the crime and the motion attached to the police report. However requested the remand of the suspect.

Magistrate Gbadeyan Jumoke Kamson, who handled the case, granted Ayeni’s prayer for remand of the accused. The matter has been adjourned until May 18th, 2023.

The allegations against Dr. Joseph have shocked the medical community and sparked outrage among the general public.
