Husband Stabs Wife to Death in Bed, Claims Innocence

A 43-year-old man, Abubakar Musa, has been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife, Ammi Mamman, in their bedroom.

The shocking incident happened at New Bra-Bra Estate in the early hours of Thursday, January 4, 2024. According to the police spokesman, Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect stabbed his wife on her neck with an unknown object while they were sleeping together. The attack caused severe bleeding that led to the death of the victim.

Abdulkarim said the suspect was taken into custody and was being questioned by the police to ascertain the motive behind the murder. He said the case was reported at the C Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, and was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the homicide unit of the command for further investigation.

However, the suspect has denied any involvement in the crime, claiming that he was innocent and that he loved his wife. He said he only discovered that his wife was bleeding after he woke up and that he immediately called his neighbour for help.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the suspect’s account, saying that he saw him rushing out of his house with his wife in his arms. He said they got an ambulance and took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The neighbour described the couple as peaceful and loving, saying that he never heard them quarrel or fight. He said he was shocked and saddened by the tragedy and that he hoped that justice would be done.

The police said they were still investigating the case and that they would charge the suspect to court as soon as possible.
