Nigerian singer Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, took to his social media platforms today 26th of September 2023 to address the ongoing controversy surrounding the untimely death of his former signee, Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
The statement posted by Naira Marley expressed his deep grief over the loss of Mohbad, whom he considered a brother and a member of their music family.
He also lamented the onslaught on his reputation in the wake of Mohbad’s passing and vehemently denied any involvement in the artist’s death.
Naira Marley’s statement read, “I have no hand in the death of Ilerioluwa, either directly or indirectly.”
However, he went on to clarify that disagreements between them, though not uncommon in the music industry, had never escalated to the extent of wishing harm upon each other.
Marlians boss also mentioned that they were in the process of resolving their business disputes legally before Mohbad’s tragic demise.
The singer, who has been out of the country since August 31, 2023, announced his intention to return to Nigeria to cooperate with the ongoing police investigation, emphasizing his innocence and cooperation with authorities.
Nevertheless, Naira Marley suggested that there may be culprits with a vendetta against him, fueling public opinion and attempting to frame him. He remained confident that the truth would be unveiled as the investigation progressed.
Regarding his record label, Marlian Music, Naira Marley addressed rumors of it being involved in illegal activities, vehemently denying any association with drug cartels or cults.
He further expressed his dedication to proving his innocence and clearing his name with sufficient evidence.
The singer also extended his condolences to Mohbad’s family and urged the public to support the police and authorities in their quest for justice.
He added that his legal team is actively engaged with law enforcement agencies to provide necessary assistance.
