Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed his desire to become the President of Nigeria.

He made the statement while unveiling the book ‘Peter Obi: many voices, one perspective’ in Anambra State on Friday.

Obi stated that he is confident he will be Nigeria’s president, whenever that happens.

“I must be the president of this country. I am sure of that. If it is not today, it must be tomorrow”, He said.

He also revealed that he was not in a hurry to achieve the dream.

Obi declared that he would not be a dual citizen and had no intention of fleeing Nigeria if he failed to ascend to the presidency.

He said he was more interested in the process of electing leaders to office rather than the individual occupying the position.

Obi noted that his actions have consistently called for the right thing to be done.

He called for a sincere process in the country’s governance and added that he would not bribe anyone to do the wrong thing.

Obi maintained that he was fighting bad leadership in the country, not just for the elites but for every Nigerian.

He also pointed out that Nigeria would soon be home to intense hunger, citing a report from the World Food Organisation that predicts that the country will soon face a severe food crisis.

The occasion’s chairman, Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, and traditional ruler of Onitsha, expressed confidence that Peter Obi would reclaim his presidential mandate.

Achebe recounted examples of Obi’s tenacity regarding his political struggles to further establish his belief in Obi as Nigeria’s future president.

Obi, a successful businessman, was previously a governor of Anambra State for two terms and a vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 elections on the platform of the opposition, People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
