Ilorin Experiences Monday Morning Rains After Month Drought

The capital city of Ilorin experienced Monday morning rains, which is greatly relieved after month drought.

The rain interrupted a lengthy dry spell that had last happened on Friday, July 19, 2024, and started about 10 a.m. and lasted for approximately an hour.

In the early hours of Monday, rain began to fall in several parts of the city. This is expected to provide relief from the heat and ease farmers’ fears in the impacted areas.

In response to the drought’s detrimental effects on agriculture, water resource management, and environmental activities, religious institutions have prayed for rain.

The drought has affected farmers the most, as many have raised concerns about how it will affect their plants and harvest. The accompanying weather condition has also resulted in a somewhat rare cold weather, as rain has failed to fall despite the sky appearing dark.

Predictions of a delayed commencement of rainfall, particularly in the northern region of Nigeria, which includes Kwara, were made in February of this year by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
