Immigration Officer Rapes Housewife in Front of Her Children, Husband Arrested for Defamation
A 20-year-old housewife, Lubabatu Yusuf, has accused a Deputy Superintendent of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Sani Saleh Mu’azu, of raping her in front of her two children at her home in Bauchi.
The victim said the incident happened on December 9, 2023, when Mu’azu, who was her husband’s benefactor, visited their residence and forced himself on her.
She said she begged him to stop, but he threatened her and assaulted her physically and sexually, while her children, aged seven and four, cried and pleaded with him to spare their mother.
She said her husband, who was outside, heard the commotion and rushed in to find Mu’azu on top of her. He confronted him and they started fighting, until Mu’azu escaped.
The victim said her husband reported the matter to the police, who arrested Mu’azu, but he was later released on bail.
She said since then, the police have not investigated her case, but have instead arrested and detained her husband for allegedly defaming Mu’azu.
She said she and her family have been traumatized by the ordeal and have been living in fear of Mu’azu and his influence.
She appealed to the authorities and human rights groups to intervene and ensure that justice is done.
Mu’azu could not be reached for comment, as his phone was switched off. The police spokesperson in Bauchi, DSP Ahmed Wakili, said he was not aware of the case and promised to get back to our correspondent.
