Indecent Dressing Faces 40 Strokes of Cane in Delta State

The Ubeji Youth and Employment Development in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has implemented a strict measure to address the issue of indecent dressing among girls in their community.

According to a report today, any girl found dressing inappropriately will face a punishment of 40 strokes of the cane. Alternatively, the community has provided an option for offenders to pay a fine of N10,000.

Stanley Bomele, the secretary of the organization, explained to the press that the youth in the community have initiated a campaign called “War Against Indecent Dressing” specifically targeting young women in the area. Bomele stated that this action was deemed necessary due to the alarming manner in which some ladies dress, which provokes unwanted attention and contributes to incidents of assault and sexual harassment within the community.

To address this issue, the wearing of miniskirts, bum shorts, and tight biker shorts has been officially prohibited. Bomele emphasized that such attire will no longer be tolerated, as it is considered indecent dressing.

However, he expressed concern that many girls have taken fashion to an extreme, with some barely dressed, which is not only offensive but also reflects poorly on the community.

Bomele further declared that this campaign will continue until the young girls in the community adopt a sense of modesty and dress appropriately.
