According to Chandan Chowdhary, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), they got a call from someone who reported a bad smell coming from a locked flat in Maidangarhi.
“The person who called said that there was a bad smell from a third-floor flat in the Sriman apartment. The flat had been shut for the last three days,” Chowdhary said.
A police team reached the location and found that the flat was locked.
They contacted the owner of the flat and opened the door with the help of a locksmith.
“In the right side room of the flat, which has two bedrooms and a hall, they found a woman’s body covered with bedsheets in the box of a double bed,” he said.
The owner said that he had rented out the flat to Obinoze Alexander for Rs 12,000 in December 2021.
The police identified the woman as a Nigerian national and arrested Obinoze after tracking him down.
“Investigation is underway to find out the reason and relationship of the accused with the woman,” Chowdhary said.
