INEC Announces Date To Issue Certificates Of Return To Governors-Elect, Others

 

The days for the issuance of Certificates of Return to governors, deputy governors, and state House of Assembly members-elect have been set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Wednesday, March 29 to Friday, March 31.

Festus Okoye, who serves as the committee’s chairman for information and voter education, made the announcement in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.

Every candidate who has been returned elected in accordance with the law is required to get a certificate of return from the Commission within 14 days, according to the provisions of Section 72(1) of the Election Act 2022.

In accordance with the clause, the Commission has set March 29 through March 31 for the issuance of Certificates of Return to those who were elected on March 18.

In each of the federation’s states, INEC offices will host the presentation, according to Okoye.

The Resident Electoral Commissioners and Administrative Secretaries of the several states, he continued, would inform individuals elected of the precise dates for the issuance of the certificates.
