Aishatu Ahmed Binani, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state has supported INEC regarding the Inclusiveness of the governorship election.

Because of the narrow margin of votes, Prof. Muhammadu Mele of the University of Maiduguri, the state collation officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), pronounced the election inconclusive.

Ahmed received 390,275 votes, compared to 421,524 for incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who is running for re-election on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket.

“Elections were not held in 47 wards, which affected 69 polling places,” he declared. We now have a margin of 31,249 thanks to this. A total of 37,016 PVCs were gathered in locations where elections were not held.

Ahmed praised the decision during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday. He claimed that violence and irregularities had been reported in 16 of the state’s 21 local government areas (LGAs).

“My reasons for believing the INEC REC did correctly by calling the vote inconclusive are straightforward,” she stated.

“Everyone who witnessed or kept track of the election in Adamawa State is aware that it was characterized by rigging, violence, excessive voting, and other irregularities.

The figures that were removed were essentially made up, in my opinion.

She claims that a number of the BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) devices were disregarded, leading to widespread overvoting and intimidation of election officials.

“If the BVAS only accredited 10, for example, you’ll discover that more than 30 people must have cast ballots. That’s one of the oddities, she continued.

Ahmed said that declaring that outcome was inconclusive was the best way for the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) to “come out clean.”

She argued that INEC has the authority to review the results within seven days to determine whether any declarations were made under duress or where failure to adhere to the electoral laws and regulations. She cited the Electoral Act to support her position.

When asked if she was worried about going back to the state for a special election, she gave a negative response.

The APC candidate stated, “I’m never afraid, but all I’m requesting is that INEC review said local governments so that it would bring out the genuine figures for all candidates.

That is all I am asking, and once everything is over, we will be dry and at home, at which point we will feel confident enough to return to the field.

About the potential for becoming the first elected female governor, Ahmed stated she is excited and in a wonderful mood.

“This is not something I’m doing for Binani or just for me. In this case, I’m doing it for every girl child in the country. It’s for all the women in Nigeria,” she added
