Informant Leads Soldiers To Invade & Burn Bunkering Depot

The people of Ibeno Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State were thrown into chaos today as a military invasion took place in the morning hours.

Reports suggest that an informant, identified as Officer Kehinde Olatunji, led the Nigerian army to destroy bunkering diesel depots in two communities – Esit Urua and Ama Friday – in Ibeno.

The estimated worth of the destroyed diesel is said to be over 200 million Naira.

The army, allegedly led by the informant, also made away with several drums of diesel.

In the process, properties were damaged and destroyed, causing panic and mayhem in the area.

According to sources, the informant, Officer Kehinde Olatunji, who goes by the nickname ‘Sheggey’, is known to have a history of violence.

He allegedly served in Eket, where he had a dispute with a driver over his regular settlement.

This resulted in him burning the driver’s Toyota Dyna and the diesel it was carrying, leading to a serious altercation with his superiors.

Sheggey was subsequently transferred to PortHarcourt but reportedly went ahead to mobilize an army unit in Bori and invaded Ibeno.

Many residents of Ibeno expressed shock and disbelief at the development, which has disrupted their daily lives and livelihoods.

The Nigerian military is yet to make an official statement on the incident.

Reports suggest that the invasion could be linked to the government’s efforts to curb illegal bunkering, smuggling activities inthe area.

The people of Ibeno have called on the government to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

Many people are calling for better security measures to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians in the area.

Howbeit, the invasion has caused tension in the area, and the people of Ibeno are hoping on the authorities. We call the authorities to take swift action to address the situation and restore normalcy to the community.
