It’s too early to make the 2027 poll a talking point- Senator Sadiq

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, the Senator from Kwara North, emphasized in an exclusive interview with Pristinegist online media on December 25, 2023, that discussions about the 2027 general election are premature.

The senator voiced his concern about the early focus on an election four years away, urging people to concentrate on the recently renewed mandate and work towards enhancing the well-being of the constituents.

In his statement, he said: “ I have just seen some posts purporting to talk about an election that is still four years away. I am concerned that people are already talking about 2027 general election just a few months after the people had just renewed our mandate to better serve them. This is too soon.”

Senator Sadiq emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts to improve the socioeconomic conditions in Kwara State, supporting Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s initiatives, and creating a conducive environment for economic growth.

He stated:” The mandate we newly got is an opportunity for us to consolidate on our efforts to improve the lots of our people through our different offices, including rallying round His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, in his determination to make Kwara State an example in socioeconomic growth, secure for our young people an environment that is conducive for a private sector-led economy which creates sustainable jobs and collective prosperity, as well as a sociopolitical atmosphere that we can all be proud.”

He concluded by urging constituents to refrain from excessive speculation about 2027, emphasizing the unpredictability of the future and the immediate focus on leveraging the federal legislative platform for the benefit of the state.

“My preoccupation at the moment is to leverage the federal legislative platform to enhance the hard work of the Governor and support our people back home. I, therefore, urge our people to slow down on the talks about 2027, keeping in mind that the next minute is not in our hands as mere mortals.
