At the Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State, a tragic event occurred when a female student gave birth at the school hostel and then throw out the newborn from the top floor of the three-story hostel building, killing the child.
The horrific aftermath was captured on camera on Monday, when female classmates gathered around the baby’s lifeless corpse as they tried to process the terrible event. The footage instantly went viral. According to reports, the student—whose name was kept anonymous—gave birth in the female dorm restroom.
Given that the student’s initial information suggested she was single, there were concerns over the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy and the birth that followed.
Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, a spokesman at Federal University Dutse, acknowledged the event and said that the school administration have informed the police. He emphasised that the student did not conceive while at the university, noting that the academic session had only resumed two months before now.
Following the incident, the student was immediately taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Bello also stated, “The university administration is conducting a thorough investigation and taking necessary measures to address the situation,”.
