The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the governorship elections in Adamawa and Kebbi States for Saturday, 15 April 2023.

INEC declared the governorship elections in the two states inconclusive because the cancelled votes exceeded the margin of victory between the candidates.

In Adamawa, incumbent PDP governor Ahmadu Fintiri is facing off against APC candidate Aisha Dahiru.

The incumbent governor has received 421,524 votes so far, while Dahiru has received 390,275 votes. Fintiri was leading his opponent by over 30,000 votes before the election was declared inconclusive.

The governorship election in Kebbi State was declared inconclusive. The two major political parties in this election, the APC and the PDP, received 388,258 and 342,980 votes, respectively. The margin of victory is 45,278 votes.

However, INEC announced on Monday on its verified Twitter account that the inconclusive governorship elections, as well as the National and State Assembly supplementary elections, would be held on April 15.

“As a result of today’s meeting, the Independent National Electoral Commission has decided that all outstanding Governorship, National, and State Assembly supplementary elections will be held on Saturday, April 15th, 2023.”

“A detailed official statement will be issued shortly,” said INEC.
