JUST-IN: NLC Shifts Nationwide Strike By 2 Weeks

The planned two-week picketing of Central Bank of Nigeria offices nationwide by Nigeria Labour Congress has been postponed.

The nationwide picketing and “sit at home” order was set to begin on March 29 on Wednesday.

During a joint press conference in Abuja with Festus Osifo, president of the Nigerian Trade Union Congress, and Joe Ajaero, president of the Nigerian Labour Congress, organized labor claims that the change is due to the apparent improvement in the cash crunch situation brought on by the CBN Naira redesign policy.

Labour announced that it would appoint monitoring teams to evaluate deposit banks’ weekend operations and the CBN’s release of Old Naira notes.

The ongoing fuel shortage and the covert increase in electricity rates are lamented by Organized Labour.

The Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emiefele, and Minister of Labor and Employment Chris Ngige met with organized labor on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming protests.
