JUST-IN: Sultan Of Sokoto Declares Eid-el-Fitr Day

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Wednesday, April 10, as the day of Eid-Al-Fitri.

Sultan, the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, announced that the decision was made in response to reports from national moon sighting committees throughout the nation verifying that no new moon was seen.

According to a statement provided to newsmen in Sokoto on Monday night and signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, the council accepted the report and subsequently proclaimed Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as the first day of Shawwal 1445AH.

“His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.

“The Sultan, while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress, and development of the country, also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-El-Fitri,” the statement read.
