JUSTICE SERVED! Makeup Artist Killer Gets Death Sentence In Enugu
A woman, Chiamaka Ifezue, has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Enugu State High Court for the brutal murder of a 27-year-old makeup artist, Ijeoma Nneke, in 2020.
Ifezue and her brother, Chukwuemeka, had lured Nneke to a fake job and forced her to drink a poisonous substance that killed her.
They then dumped her body in Maryland area of Enugu and poured acid on it to conceal their crime.
The court, presided over by Justice K.I. Okpe, found Ifezue guilty of murder after the prosecution proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The judge, however, discharged Chukwuemeka, who had been charged with conspiracy and murder, for lack of evidence.
The court also admitted various exhibits recovered from the scene of the crime, including phones, money, and makeup tools belonging to the deceased.
The court also heard the last messages Nneke had with her fiancé and girlfriend before she met her untimely death.
The sentence of Ifezue has been hailed by many Nigerians as a victory for justice and a deterrent to other potential killers.
